Design Philosophy

The focus of any Greenlight Construction design is energy efficiency and conservation. This will mean that your building envelope will be packed with more insulation than a structure that only just meets the current regulations. By taking this simple measure your CO2 emissions will be lower and so will your fuel bills too!

Wherever possible, Greenlight Construction will apply the Energy Standards of the Association of Environment Conscious Building (AECB). This means that energy efficient measures will be 'built-in' before being 'bolted-on'. If your desire is for solar panels and a wind turbine then that's fine - they can be integrated into the design... but ONLY once the thermal envelope of your building has been 'beefed up' as far as is practicable. If we don't do it this way round then too much of the precious renewable energy that is created will simply escape into the atmosphere.

Design Process

The design process would go something like this...

Following a no obligation initial meeting, a fixed fee will be offered by Greenlight Construction. Once accepted the consultancy work will then entail further discussion of your requirements based around potential CAD layout drawings (produced by us) until such time as a provisional final design layout is agreed upon. Consideration and submission of any necessary planning permission approval will then be made.

Thereafter full architectural and specification works will be carried out to produce plans and details that are to the satisfaction of the local Building Control Office (note: these plans and specifications will also be suitable to be sent out to local Building Contractors for tender). To complete the process the design team will be available throughout the project to answer any technical queries regarding the design.
